To empower Tanzania’s Indigenous communities especially women, youth, pastoralists, and hunter-gatherers by promoting education, health, nutrition, clean water access, climate resilience, environmental conservation, and the protection of cultural and land rights. We are committed to youth-led, community-driven solutions that strengthen dignity, opportunity, and sustainable development.
A future where all Indigenous communities in Tanzania live with dignity, safety, equal opportunity, cultural freedom, and climate-resilient livelihoods led by empowered youth and protected by policies that respect their rights, traditions, and land.
TICF Foundation is a youth-led organization established by young Indigenous leaders who are deeply rooted in their communities and committed to advancing rights, wellbeing, and cultural preservation. Our founders and team come from pastoralist and hunter-gatherer backgrounds, giving us firsthand understanding of the systemic challenges facing Indigenous communities in Tanzania from harmful practices and educational barriers to climate change impacts, land insecurity, and limited access to basic services. We are driven by the belief that Indigenous youth must be at the center of solutions. Their lived experience, cultural knowledge, and leadership potential are essential in shaping sustainable development, protecting cultural identity, and strengthening community resilience. TICF elevates these voices through advocacy, grassroots mobilization, and community-led programming. Our organization works to ensure that Indigenous people especially pastoralists and women and youth are meaningfully included in conversations about climate change, environmental conservation, land rights, educational opportunities, health, access to clean water and cultural protection. Guided by values of respect, inclusion, and empowerment, TICF is building a future where Indigenous communities thrive with dignity, safety, and opportunity.

Education & Empowerment

We are committed to breaking cycles of poverty through access to quality education, life-skills, and opportunities that empower children, youth, and women to reach their full potential. Education is the foundation of long-term community transformation.

Maternal Health, Safe Childbirth & Nutrition

We champion the wellbeing of mothers and children by promoting safe childbirth, maternal care, and improved nutrition. Our goal is to ensure that every woman delivers safely and every child grows healthy, supported, and protected.

Environmental Conservation & Climate Action

We safeguard our natural environment and support indigenous climate resilience. Our programs promote sustainable land use, ecosystem protection, and community-driven solutions to climate challenges affecting pastoralist and rural families.

Access to Clean & Safe Water

We believe clean water is a human right. We work to ensure communities have reliable access to safe water sources—reducing disease, essential for wellbeing and improving daily life for women and children.

Cultural Respect & Protection

We honor the richness of indigenous cultures. TICF protects traditional knowledge, promotes cultural pride, and ensures development efforts respect and strengthen community identity rather than replace it.

6. Youth Leadership & Community Participation

As a youth-led organization, we prioritize inclusive participation. We equip young people to lead change and engage communities in every step of program design and implementation—ensuring ownership, sustainability, and long-lasting impact.

Integrity, Transparency & Accountability

We are guided by honesty and responsibility in everything we do. Through transparent practices and accountable systems, we build trust with communities, partners, and donors—ensuring that every resource creates real, measurable change.

Water Is Life But in Lengasti, It Is Still a Daily Struggle

In Lengasti village, Simanjiro District, access to clean and safe water remains a serious challenge. Every day, women and girls walk 7–9 kilometers before sunrise to collect water often unsafe for drinking. This long journey costs children their education, women their economic opportunities, and families their health. During the dry season, water sources disappear, forcing even longer and riskier journeys. Children suffer from waterborne diseases, and families spend limited income on medical care instead of food, school, or business. In our pastoral Maasai community, donkeys carry heavy water containers across extreme heat, often becoming injured and exhausted. Livestock are central to our identity and survival, yet without nearby water access, both people and animals suffer. Through TICF, we are committed to providing sustainable water solutions by drilling boreholes, installing solar-powered pumps, building storage tanks, and training local water committees to manage the systems. Clean water will: Keep girls in school Improve health and reduce disease Free women for income-generating activities Protect livestock Strengthen long-term community resilience Water is not a luxury — it is dignity, safety, and opportunity.
